This Easter weekend, The Harvey Centre will be embracing the spirit of spring with a selection of farm-themed FREE events, between 11am and 4pm on Saturday 15th April.
During the event, children will have the opportunity to meet an array of real farm animals from Kidsrome Farm including a pony or donkey, sheep, goat, chickens, ducks, rabbits and a dog, in the centre’s special petting farm. They will have the chance to pet and stroke the animals – all supervised by the farmer himself. The whole experience will be both fun and educational, as children are encouraged to ask questions about the animals and how a working farm operates.
The welfare of the animals is very important to Kidsrome and The Harvey Centre. The animals selected are comfortable with human interaction and enjoy being petted. They are also in really secure, safe conditions but if they for any reason become stressed they will be moved straight away. The centre’s floor will be covered with vinyl overlay and then bedding will be put down on top for the animals, creating a more pleasant environment. Hygiene is very important and Kidsrome will supply antibacterial hand gels, so anyone touching the animals can clean their hands straight after.
Fully embracing the countryside theme, The Harvey Centre will also be running a special kid’s farmer workshop where children can meet ‘Farmer Frankie’ and her cheeky farmyard helper ‘Matilda muddy-boots’ as they embark upon a big day at work. During the event, children are invited to jump into the pig pen for some oinky games, put their boulder lifting skills to the test on the little tractor track and hook a duck in the duck pond. Finally kids can have some fun in the potato patch! Here they will pick their prize potato and turn it into a potato baby, complete with clothes and a birth certificate to take home!
No Easter event would be complete without chocolate, so there will be FREE giveaways throughout the day, plus FREE face painting and a special appearance by Harvey the Hippo. Thomas Cook will also have some special treats to hand out, so look out for the Easter bunnies throughout the day giving out little chocolate eggs and discount vouchers to customers as they shop.
This year, for the first time ever, The Harvey Centre will also be open for leisure and dining on Easter Sunday, so if you’re looking for something to do with family or friends, maybe a meal and a movie, The Harvey centre is the perfect destination.
