One of the best parts of summer is being able to spend some quality time with family and friends in the sunshine. But with so many options, which one do you choose?
Trying to plan the perfect day out can be a tricky one, but you don’t have to travel far to find a good time. You’d be surprised by the amount of fun that can be had on your doorstep.
We’ve decided to help you out and list 8 fun things to do in the local area during the summer. Got any more ideas? Be sure to let us know!
If you’re looking for a frantic, intense battle contested in a war zone with lasers, then Quasar Harlow is the place for you.
Located here at The Harvey Centre, the Harlow location is actually the biggest Quasar arena in the country, allowing over 30 players at once to provide the ultimate challenge. Take part in a fun filled, action packed outing and enjoy some quality food afterwards in the Cage Cafe.
Packages start from only £5.50 per person for a single game, but there are multiple special offers available. Will we see you on the battlefield?
Are you up for a challenge?
The Panic Room is perfect for anyone looking to test their brain power, making you work as a team to figure out different puzzles and clues to escape within the 60 minute time limit. With 3 different experiences to choose from (The Tomb, The Panic Room & The Witch House), each room can hold teams of 2-8 players and ranges in difficulty.
If you’ve already managed to crack the first 3 rooms, be sure to check out the 2 brand new rooms with Outbreak and The Don they are introducing this summer.
Got a need for speed?
TeamSport Go Karting is Harlow’s premier racing experience, with a 500m multi-level circuit full of twists and turns. The £1.2 million state-of-the-art building is ideal for anyone who loves to feel the wind blowing through their hair (well, through a safety helmet at least).
With multiple different packages and experiences available, it really is perfect for all ages. They are currently offering half price karting from only £17 per person, so don’t miss out.
Do you have a taste for the theatre?
Drama, music and comedy all meet under one roof with the Harlow Playhouse. With 400-seat and 120-seat theatres, they are able to provide a range of different programmes specifically for your entertainment.
Hosting a range of shows from comedians to tribute acts to stage productions, you’ll never be short of some quality times. You don’t have to walk far either, it’s located just outside of The Harvey Centre!
Who doesn’t love a free day out?
Pets Corner is a small, family friendly farm that features a large selection farm animals such as rabbits, llamas and even reindeer. With on-site facilities such as The Learning Centre, The Spurriers House Cafe and the Gift Shop, there’s plenty of things to do.
The best part about it is that entry is completely free! You can feed some of the animals for only 20p per bag, and they also welcome donations on site if you are feeling generous.
How about a little bit of culture?
The Gibberd Gallery is a contemporary exhibition space located in the centre of Harlow, and features a range of different exhibitions and events throughout the year. The gallery is home to the Sir Frederick Gibberd 20th Century Watercolour Collection, which is an important collection of British watercolours and we recommend checking it out if you haven’t already.
If you’re into the finer things in life, you need to go down to the Gibberd Gallery.
Fancy something a little more physical?
Harlow Leisure Zone offers an all-round leisure experience for people of all ages. The Leisure Zone has a huge range of different sporty activities for you to try, such as badminton, football, trampolining, tennis and a swimming pool, and has fantastic gym facilities.
