  • Strawberries
  • Pineapple
  • Melon
  • Chocolate
  • Marshmallows and various jelly sweets.
  • Kebab skewers,
  • Vase or basket
  • Polystyrene foam

When you have all of your ingredients you can get to the fun part and start sticking your tasty treats through the skewer sticks – why not dip the strawberries and marshmallows in milk chocolate for a little extra!

  1. Slice your pineapple and cut out flower shapes using a cookie cutter.
  2. Use a melon baller to scoop circular balls out of the melon, these will serve as the center of your flowers.
  3. For the next step, fill your vase or basket (whichever you opted for your display) with the polystyrene foam and then you can begin to arrange your adorable bouquet for Mum!

This gift has so much sentimental value and will be the perfect keepsake.

To make your photo frame head down to Wilko’s to pick up a plain photo frame of your choice for under £5 and then stop by the Phoenix Resource Centre to buy any crafty bits that you want to decorate your frame with.

Stuck for some inspiration? Why not glue different coloured buttons around the frame for a cheerful and colourful gift that she will love.

3. Glass Jar Terrarium

What you will need:

  • An old mason jar
  • Some small pebbles
  • Some garden soil
  • Some small indoor plants that are suited to thriving in a terrarium environment.

Once you have these, take the mason jar and fill it with a layer of small pebbles – this is to create a drainage system, then add in a layer of soil fresh from the garden. Now you are ready to start potting your plants – make little pits in the soil for your plants to sit in, arrange them nicely, sprinkle a few more pebbles in the gaps and voilà there you have it – a perfect indoor gardeners dream for your Mum!

4. Marble Mug

Number 4 on our top 5 Gifts to Make this Mother’s Day list is something that your Mum will use everyday – this gorgeous marble effect mug. This is such an easy idea and one that you can create with things you probably already have in the house.

  • A plain white mug
  • A plastic container (one that you don’t mind ruining)
  • Kebab stick
  • Paper towel
  • Nail varnish

Once you have these it is time to get crafty…

  1. Fill the container with warm water and add in a couple of drops of your favourite colour nail varnish and stir with the stick.
  2. Now for the fun part, dip your mug and swirl it around the water so that it picks up the paint, and then place it on to the paper towel to dry.

It really is as simple as that to make this perfect gift for Mother’s Day.

5. Button Bracelet

What you will need:

  • Head over to The Phoenix Resource Centre and choose your buttons – you will need between 10 and 15 buttons of your choice
  • A cord string – about 15 inches
  • Scissors.

You are now ready to assemble your bracelet:

  1. Take the cord and a loop for the fastening and then start to thread the buttons on to the cord – you want to do this by threading up from the back over the hole and then over the top to the other hole so that the cord has done a full loop through the button.
  2. Once you have threaded your last button you want the end button to sit on the loop so you can fasten the bracelet. To do this thread the cord through both ways and then tie it like you did with the first loop.
  3. There you have it an adorable bracelet for your Mum this Mother’s Day!
